On Thursday November 7, 2024, ALBERTHA LOLETA JONES née Hewitt, affectionately known as “Bertha” of Brittons New Road, Clapham, St. Michael and formerly of 8th Avenue, New Orleans, St. Michael died peacefully at age 80. She was a retired Foreman of The NCC;  Daughter of the late Elsie Hewitt and Lawson Griffith;  Widow of Stephen Jones;  Mother of Barry, Anthony, Henderson, Sonia, Annette and Beverley;  Grandmother of Latoya Armstrong, Lanette Carrington, Ashron Austin and others; Sister of Esther Headley, Cyralene, Cheryl, Trevor, Eric, Dana, Nigel and Patrick Hewitt, Veronica, Mariel, Martha, Pat, Roy, Dave and Bernard Griffith. Aunt of Leba, Erica, Corey, Adrian, David, Ramon, Dana and many others; Niece of the late Sir Everton Weekes; Relative of the Hewitt, Griffith, Ifill, Brown, Hinds, Walters and Gittens families; Friend of Alicia Hazell, Betty Sealy, Sis Cummins, Sis Helen, Sis Merline, Pauline, Brim, Cecilia, Elsie, Lo Lo, May May and many others. He was retired Commissioner of Police of Barbados andretired Executive Director of the Regional Security System.  Husband of Ann Janett Watson. Father of Ivor Watson (Germany), Winslow Watson (U.S.A.), and Tricia Watson. Grandfather of Amber Watson (U.S.A.), Leyna Watson (Germany), Winslow Watson II (U.S.A.), Elisha Hope and Carlin-Kayla Hope. Father-in-Law of Juann Watson (U.S.A.),  Ellen Watson (Germany) and Adam Clarke. Brother of Beulah Caddle, DaCosta Watson (U.K.), Arlington Watson, and Grace Boyce (Canada), the late Gwendolyn Neblett, Livingston Watson and Gloria Grant (U.K.). Brother-in-Law of Ivan and Carmen Jones (U.K.), Monica Smith (U.S.A), Beresford and Jane Jones, and Margaret Watson. The Official Funeral of the late the late Grantley Sylvester Watson, GCM,  LLB, LEC, JP, will take place at St. Thomas Parish Church, near Arch Hall, St. Thomas, on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm. The Cortege will then proceed to the Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Hall, St. Peter for the Interment. The Organist and members of the Church Choir are kindly asked to attend.
